Doug from Farmingdale, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since January of 2013. He and Diane signed in the first week of January and the generator was commissioned at the end of June, close to six months later, which is what the queue looked like across New Jersey that year. Theirs is an 8 kW Generac in a steel enclosure, specified for 500 square feet and two refrigerators. Farmingdale is in Monmouth County.
Why Doug chose Green Sun Energy Services
Complete backup power, from sizing and installation to the service that keeps it ready.

Standby generator questions from Farmingdale homeowners
Can a fence be put around the generator?
Potentially, but a fence cannot encroach on the required airflow, exhaust and service clearances. A removable screening panel suits some installations, though technicians still need room to open the machine and work on it safely. Local zoning may separately require or regulate screening.
Why do outages last longer on some Farmingdale streets than others?
Mature tree cover over overhead lines is the usual reason. Limbs coming down in wind, snow or ice take the lines with them, so heavily treed streets tend to see both more frequent outages and longer restoration times than open ones. It is one of the honest arguments for standby power rather than a portable generator.
Should gas pressure be checked while the generator is running?
Yes. Operating pressure means more than a static reading taken with the generator off. The fuel system has to hold adequate pressure while the generator runs and other appliances may also be drawing gas. That matters most when an existing residential service is being reused.
