New Jersey businesses can significantly reduce or even completely offset the cost of installing Level 2 EV chargers through a variety of federal, state, and utility incentives. Programs include federal tax credits, state grants, and rebates from utilities like JCP&L, PSE&G, and ACE. These incentives make commercial EV charging a smart, cost-effective investment.

Businesses that purchase qualified commercial EV Charger between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2032, may receive a 30% federal tax credit of up to $30,000.
NJ State Grant
$8,000 Per 2-Port Level 2 Charging Station
New Jersey’s It Pay$ to Plug In program offers grants to help cover the cost of purchasing and maintaining EV charging stations. Designed to expand the state’s EV infrastructure, it provides up to $4,000 per Level 2 charging port. Applicants must meet eligibility criteria, and grants are reimbursed after project completion. Note: Equipment should not be purchased or installed before grant approval, as completed projects are not eligible.
JCP&L Rebates & Incentives
Up to $24,500 in Rebates from JCP&L for a 2-Port Charging Station
JCP&L offers significant incentives to make EV charger installations more affordable for businesses and multi-unit apartment buildings. Businesses can receive up to $11,100 in Utility Make-Ready Work incentives for a two-port charging station and $6,700 per port for Customer Make-Ready Work (up to 10 ports). Additional incentives are available for DC fast-charging stations, including up to $50,500 for Utility Make-Ready Work and $25,000 per port for Customer Make-Ready Work.
PSE&G Rebates & Incentives
$7,500 Rebate For a 2-Port Level 2 Charger
PSE&G offers an on-bill credit of up to $30,000 for upgrading Customer-Side Make-Ready (CSMR) assets for the installation of ENERGY STAR® certified Level 2 smart chargers. This incentive provides up to $7,500 per charger installation for up to four chargers per site. Additionally, PSE&G may reduce utility-side upgrade costs by up to $10,000, applied toward the required deposit for Utility-Side Make-Ready (USMR) work, ensuring safe and reliable electric service.
ACE Rebates
$9,000 Per 2-Port Level 2 Charging Station
Atlantic City Electric offers rebates to help reduce the cost of installing EV chargers. For commercial properties, they provide up to 50% of electrical upgrade costs, or $4,500 per charging port, for up to 10 ports. For multi-family properties, rebates cover up to 75% of upgrade costs, or $5,000 per port, with potential rebates of up to 100% for properties in overburdened communities, with a maximum of $6,700 per charger. * ChargePoint chargers support multiple connector types, making them one of the most versatile options available. The J1772 connector is standard for Level 2 charging and is compatible with nearly all electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) on the market today. This includes popular models from Tesla, such as the Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck, which can charge using a J1772 adapter or ChargePoint’s Tesla NACS connector for direct charging. Ford EVs, including the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, Escape PHEV, and E-Transit, are also fully compatible. Other major manufacturers with ChargePoint-compatible EVs include Chevrolet with the Bolt EV, Bolt EUV, Silverado EV, and Volt PHEV; Rivian with the R1T and R1S; and Volkswagen with the ID.4 and ID.7.
Hyundai and Kia models, such as the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, Kona Electric, Santa Fe PHEV, Tucson PHEV, EV6, EV9, Niro EV, and Niro PHEV, can all charge seamlessly using ChargePoint chargers. BMW offers compatibility across their EV and PHEV lineup, including the i4, iX, iX3, i5, i7, 330e, 530e, and X5 xDrive45e. Mercedes-Benz models like the EQS, EQE, EQB, EQC, and GLE 450e PHEV also work with ChargePoint charging solutions. Luxury and performance EVs, such as the Lucid Air, Lucid Gravity, Polestar 1 PHEV, Polestar 2, Polestar 3, and Porsche Taycan, as well as hybrid models like the Panamera E-Hybrid and Cayenne E-Hybrid, are all supported.
Many other leading automakers offer ChargePoint-compatible EVs and plug-in hybrids. Toyota’s bZ4X, Prius Prime, RAV4 Prime, Corolla Cross Hybrid, Camry Hybrid, and Sequoia Hybrid all work with ChargePoint. Subaru’s Solterra and Crosstrek Hybrid, Jeep’s Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe, and Volvo’s C40 Recharge, XC40 Recharge, XC60 Recharge PHEV, XC90 Recharge PHEV, and S60 Recharge PHEV are also on the list. Chrysler’s Pacifica Hybrid, Cadillac’s LYRIQ and CT6 PHEV, GMC’s Hummer EV and Sierra EV, Nissan’s Ariya and Leaf (which uses CHAdeMO for DC fast charging), and Jaguar’s I-PACE are all compatible as well. Genesis models, including the GV60, GV70 Electrified, GV80 Electrified, and G80 Electrified, along with Honda’s Prologue, Clarity PHEV, Accord Hybrid, and CR-V Hybrid, and Mitsubishi’s Outlander PHEV, round out the extensive list of supported vehicles.
ChargePoint also supports Tesla’s NACS connector, allowing Tesla owners to charge directly without an adapter. For DC fast charging, ChargePoint chargers are compatible with CCS and CHAdeMO, making them ideal for vehicles like the Nissan Leaf (CHAdeMO) and most CCS-equipped EVs.
