Ken from Freehold, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2013. He and Jeanette signed in mid August and the generator was commissioned in the third week of November, an 8 kW Generac in a steel enclosure on a ten-circuit switch. The survey is short but pointed: a refrigerator and a 2 horsepower well pump. A well of that size is a heavy starting load, and it is the reason the essential-circuit list was drawn the way it was. Freehold is in Monmouth County.

Standby generator questions from Freehold homeowners
Can a generator be installed in a flood zone in Freehold?
Yes, but the generator and its electrical equipment may need to be elevated or otherwise protected. The installation is evaluated against the property's FEMA flood zone, its Base Flood Elevation and Design Flood Elevation, the municipal flood ordinance, any applicable freeboard, and NJDEP requirements where they apply. It is a property-by-property assessment rather than a rule of thumb.
Does a permanently installed generator need a disconnect?
Yes. Permanently installed generators fall under the disconnecting-means requirements of the National Electrical Code's generator article, and the equipment and electrical design have to satisfy those requirements alongside the machine's own listing and instructions.
What gas pressure does a generator need?
It is model-specific and has to be read off the specification sheet rather than assumed. A current 22 kW model, for instance, specifies a minimum natural-gas pressure of 3.5 inches water column. Different models carry different requirements.
