Diane from Red Bank, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since December of 2014. She and Daniel signed in the middle of December and the generator was commissioned at the end of February, a 16 kW Generac in a steel enclosure on its own pad behind a 200-amp service-rated switch. Two power management modules are what let 16 kW carry 3,390 square feet with two refrigerators, a dishwasher and the laundry. A PowerBase plan has covered it since. Red Bank is in Monmouth County.
Why Diane chose Green Sun Energy Services
Complete backup power, from sizing and installation to the service that keeps it ready.

Standby generator questions from Red Bank homeowners
Does the transfer switch need flood protection as well as the generator?
Yes. A flood review should cover much more than the generator enclosure. FEMA recommends that a residential standby system consider elevation or protection of the generator, the transfer switch, the normal and emergency panels, the feeders and the control wiring together.
Can a generator go in the side yard of a Red Bank property?
Often yes, provided the side yard satisfies both the manufacturer's clearances and the municipality's zoning requirements. The site review covers the property-line setback, windows and doors, the gas and electric meters, the air conditioner, neighboring structures, flood conditions, service access and any local screening requirement.
Can a standby generator be used instead of utility power?
Residential standby generators are intended for backup during outages rather than as a permanent substitute for normal utility service. Running through an extended outage is expected, but maintenance requirements become considerably more important during prolonged continuous use.
