Two intervals have been kept since – the four-year service in March of 2025 and the five-year service the following February, brought forward by a month. Four years is the point at which a standby generator stops being new: the break-in oil is long gone, the battery is entering the range where it starts letting people down, and the plugs and filters have real hours on them. Annual maintenance, an extended parts-and-labor warranty and monitoring we manage all sit behind the machine.

Standby generator questions from Farmingdale homeowners
Does a generator keep the well running during an outage in Farmingdale?
Yes, when the well pump is included in the design. A private well pump is electric, so without power there is no running water at all -- a different order of problem from losing the lights. Homes on a well are among the clearest cases for standby power, and the pump belongs on the load list from the start.
Does new gas piping have to be pressure tested in Farmingdale?
Yes. Gas piping subject to the adopted fuel-gas code must be inspected and tested before it is accepted. New Jersey adopts the 2024 International Fuel Gas Code, which governs the inspection, the test pressure and how long the test has to hold.
Does a generator produce less on natural gas than on propane?
Some models do have a lower rated maximum output on natural gas than on propane -- a current 22 kW machine is rated 22 kW on LP and 21 kW on natural gas. Other models carry their own ratings, so the model-specific specification sheet is what settles it rather than a general rule.
