Richard from Ocean, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2020. The generator was commissioned in March of 2021: 16 kW on natural gas, on a 150-amp managed whole-house switch with two smart management modules, sized against a 14 kW calculation for the 2,953 square foot house. A sump pump, two refrigerators, a washer, a gas dryer and a dishwasher make up the load. Two management modules on a 150-amp service are what make whole-house coverage possible rather than a nominated list of circuits – the heavy loads are staggered so nothing has to be left off. An annual maintenance plan covers the yearly visit, with the manufacturer’s standard warranty behind the machine.

Standby generator questions from Ocean homeowners
Will a 22 kW generator run an entire Ocean house?
For many homes, yes, but that does not mean every load can run at the same moment. Houses with two central air conditioners, electric heat, EV charging, pool equipment or electric cooking may need load management or a larger machine. The answer comes from a load calculation rather than from the phrase whole house.
What is a sediment trap for?
It helps stop foreign material in the gas line from reaching the generator's fuel controls. Where the fuel-gas code and the system configuration call for one, it is fitted, and the maintenance schedule includes inspecting or cleaning it.
What does a standby generator sit on?
A stable, level support system allowed by the model's installation instructions. Depending on the machine and the site that can be an approved composite base, a prepared aggregate base, a concrete pad, or an engineered elevated platform.
