Brent from Lincroft, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since January of 2026. A Generac rated 22 kW on propane and 21 kW on natural gas went in that March, running on natural gas behind a 200-amp automatic transfer switch, with 3,000 square feet of living space behind it on the load survey. The gap between those two ratings is the detail worth noticing: older air-cooled machines gave up two and a half kilowatts on natural gas, and this generation gives up one. On gas, which is what this house runs on, that is output you keep.
Why Brent chose Green Sun Energy Services
Complete backup power, from sizing and installation to the service that keeps it ready.

Standby generator questions from Lincroft homeowners
Can Lincroft require a generator to sit farther from the house than the manufacturer does?
Yes. Another applicable requirement can result in greater separation than the manufacturer's listed minimum -- equipment may be permitted eighteen inches from a qualifying wall while the local ordinance requires several feet from a property line. Both requirements have to be satisfied; neither cancels the other.
Can it start during a brownout when the power is not fully off?
Yes. The controller monitors whether the utility supply is acceptable, not merely whether voltage is present, so it can start while some lights and appliances still appear to be working. That is usually the explanation when a generator runs during severe utility-voltage problems.
How level does a generator have to be?
Within the leveling tolerance specified in its installation manual -- applicable air-cooled instructions have used roughly a half-inch overall. A poorly prepared base can settle after installation and bring on drainage, vibration or enclosure problems that were not there on the day it went in.
