Green Sun Energy Services installed a Generac standby generator at a home in Monmouth Beach for a client since August of 2024, commissioned in December of 2025. The long run between the two dates is the interesting part. A standby generator has to sit a set distance from openings in the building and from vent terminations, and those clearances are not something an installer can negotiate around. On this property the only workable position was occupied by an outdoor shower, with two opening windows directly above it and a chimney vent terminating nearby. Making the site suitable meant taking out the shower and its foundation, changing those two windows to fixed units that do not open, and extending the chimney vent so it terminated clear of the generator. Once the site was ready the installation itself was straightforward. The 3,000 square foot house carries three refrigerators, a freezer, two sump pumps, a dishwasher, a microwave, and a washer with a gas dryer, which set a minimum of 16 kW under the National Electrical Code. The installed machine delivers 19.5 kW on natural gas through a 200 amp transfer switch covering the whole house. The service plan supports it with annual maintenance, an extended parts and labor warranty, and monitoring Green Sun manages directly.
