Generac 16 kW Standby Generator in Springfield, NJ | Three Sump Pumps Covered

Springfield, NJ · Client since March 2018

Marc from Springfield, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since March of 2018. He signed in the middle of March and the generator was commissioned at the end of May, a 16 kW Generac in an aluminium enclosure on its own pad behind a 150-amp service-rated switch with a power management module. It covers 3,000 square feet with two refrigerators, a dishwasher, the laundry and three sump pumps. Three sumps is the clearest argument there is for backup power. Springfield is in Union County.

Standby generator questions from Springfield homeowners

Will a 16 kW generator run an entire Springfield house?

For many homes, yes, but that does not mean every load can run at the same moment. Houses with two central air conditioners, electric heat, EV charging, pool equipment or electric cooking may need load management or a larger machine. The answer comes from a load calculation rather than from the phrase whole house.

Can the exercise time be changed?

Yes, though the procedure depends on the controller and the model, and older and newer control platforms use different setup interfaces. Remote monitoring may also offer it, depending on the generator.

Can the generator stay connected during a pressure test?

The machine has to be protected from test pressures beyond what its fuel controls are built to withstand. The fuel-gas code sets out when appliances are disconnected or isolated for testing, and the plumbing contractor follows both that code and the generator's installation instructions.
