That approach replaces the separate transfer switch and management modules with one integrated board, which is neater and gives finer control over what runs during an outage. Standby generator questions from Holmdel homeowners
Can the existing natural-gas service in a Holmdel home supply a generator?
Often yes, but the gas system has to be evaluated first. The review covers the generator's BTU demand, meter capacity, available pressure, regulator capacity, pipe diameter and length, and every other gas appliance in the house -- furnace, boiler, water heater, range and fireplace among them.
Can a generator go under a deck?
Only if the specific installation satisfies every requirement for overhead clearance, airflow, exhaust, fire separation, carbon-monoxide safety and service access. Because the applicable guidance commonly requires substantial overhead clearance, many ordinary under-deck locations will not qualify. It is a site-specific review rather than a standard placement.
Does a generator need a concrete pad?
Not universally. Approved alternative support systems are permitted for applicable models. Concrete or an engineered platform may still be required because of the site conditions, flood requirements, anchoring, municipal requirements or structural design -- but it is not automatic.
