Two ovens and a four-ton air conditioner

The machine is a Generac Guardian 20 kW home standby, model 6244, delivering 18 kW on natural gas, which is what this house runs on. The transfer switch is service-rated at 200 amps and sits in the garage — it takes the place of the main disconnect rather than sitting behind it, so there is one enclosure on the wall instead of two.
Alongside the ovens the list includes a refrigerator, a separate freezer, the dishwasher, the garbage disposal, the microwave, the washer, the gas dryer, the garage door and a gas furnace that still needs power to run its blower.
The generator was commissioned on 12 October 2013 and was last serviced on 31 October 2025.
3,406 square feet washed in May
On 20 May 2025 we soft washed 3,406 square feet of the exterior. Soft washing does the work with the solution rather than the pressure: a sodium hypochlorite and surfactant mix goes on at low pressure, is left to kill the algae and mildew growing on the surface, and is rinsed off. Force alone lifts the staining and leaves the growth rooted in place, so it comes back within a season.
