Three years is the point at which the original installer’s involvement has usually lapsed, and the intervals from then on are kept by whoever the household chooses next – or by nobody at all, which is the more common outcome. An annual maintenance plan now covers the yearly visit, with the manufacturer’s standard warranty behind the machine.

Does new gas piping have to be pressure tested in Ocean?
Yes. Gas piping subject to the adopted fuel-gas code must be inspected and tested before it is accepted. New Jersey adopts the 2024 International Fuel Gas Code, which governs the inspection, the test pressure and how long the test has to hold.
What happens if we add a heat pump, a pool or an EV charger later?
Any major new electrical load should prompt a review of the generator's capacity. A machine sized correctly at installation may no longer be adequate once substantial loads are added. Load management can often accommodate the new equipment without replacing the generator.
How often should a standby generator be serviced?
Maintenance follows the schedule for the exact model and its operating hours. For current air-cooled units that means an annual inspection plus scheduled work at hour-and-year intervals. Extended running during a long outage can bring the next service forward.
