Gregory Chung has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2018, when he took out a PowerBase Silver service plan on a Generac 6250 standby generator that another company had installed. Solar followed in September of 2025.
A plan on a generator we did not install
The 20 kW Generac 6250 was already on the pad when the relationship started. Green Sun did not sell it and did not install it. The plan covers the maintenance, and the machine has run under that plan through its most recent service visit in September 2025. PowerBase Silver is the routine work a standby generator needs in order to be trustworthy: oil, filters, plugs, a load test and a look at the transfer switch, on a schedule rather than after something goes wrong. A generator that has been serviced on a schedule is the one that starts on the night it is asked to.
29 panels and 12.47 kW
The array was signed in August 2025 and went on the roof on 11 September. Twenty-nine JinkoSolar JKM430N panels at 430 watts each come to 12.47 kW, on IronRidge mounting, with an Enphase IQ8PLUS microinverter behind every panel rather than one central inverter for the whole roof. That matters on any roof with shading: a panel in shade, or a panel with a fault, affects only itself. PSE&G is the utility, and the first year is estimated at 15,320 kWh.
Two purchases, one relationship
The generator and the array have nothing in common as equipment. One is a machine another company installed; the other is a system Green Sun designed and built. What links them is the service record between 2018 and 2025 — a plan renewed, visits made, a generator kept in condition. By the time this household decided to add solar, they already knew who they were going to call.

Standby generatorWill a 22 kW generator run an entire Union house?
For many homes, yes, but that does not mean every load can run at the same moment. Houses with two central air conditioners, electric heat, EV charging, pool equipment or electric cooking may need load management or a larger machine. The answer comes from a load calculation rather than from the phrase whole house.
SolarIs there still an electric bill with solar?
Yes. The utility continues to provide the meter, the grid connection and the billing account, so even a house producing roughly as much as it consumes over a year can still see customer charges and other applicable charges.
Standby generatorDo underground utilities have to be marked before the trench is dug?
Yes. Underground facilities must be addressed through the New Jersey One Call process before the excavation begins, which is what protects buried gas, electric, telecommunications and water lines from being struck.
