Leonel from Branchburg, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since May of 2016. The contract was signed at the start of May and the array was producing by the second of August: 30 LG 260-watt panels on a SolarEdge SE7600 inverter with QuickMount racking, 7.8 kW rated and designed for about 8,817 kilowatt-hours a year. The panels went up with 175 feet of critter guard around them, closing the sheltered gap underneath before anything could nest in it — on a system this age that decision has been quietly paying off for nearly a decade. Branchburg is in Somerset County, at the western edge of where we install.

Solar questions from Branchburg homeowners
Does solar work well in Branchburg?
Yes. New Jersey receives more than enough annual sunlight for residential photovoltaic systems to produce substantial electricity. Panels run on light rather than heat, so they keep producing through the winter. What varies from house to house is roof orientation, pitch, shading, system size, equipment and local weather.
Do solar panels lose output as they age?
Modules normally lose a small amount of maximum output over time. Manufacturers publish a long-term performance warranty setting out how much of the rated output should remain after a given number of years. It is worth comparing the actual warranty curve rather than the headline number of years.
Is there still an electric bill with solar?
Yes. The utility continues to provide the meter, the grid connection and the billing account, so even a house producing roughly as much as it consumes over a year can still see customer charges and other applicable charges.
