Charlie from Holmdel, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since October of 2016. The array was commissioned that December.
Thirty-six LG 300N1K-G4 panels in the all-black finish, 10.8 kW in total, on QuickMount flashed mounts with a SolarEdge inverter and per-panel optimizers. The design estimate is 12,695 kWh in the first year. Optimizers matter on a roof that is not uniformly clear: each panel reports and converts on its own, so a chimney shadow crossing one module in the afternoon takes down that module rather than the whole string it sits in.

Solar questions from Holmdel homeowners
What is hosting capacity, and can it affect a Holmdel property?
Hosting capacity is how much distributed generation a part of the grid can take without affecting safety or reliability. A neighborhood with a lot of existing solar can face interconnection limits even where the individual property is ideal for it -- which is why the utility review is not a formality.
Do solar panels lose output as they age?
Modules normally lose a small amount of maximum output over time. Manufacturers publish a long-term performance warranty setting out how much of the rated output should remain after a given number of years. It is worth comparing the actual warranty curve rather than the headline number of years.
What does solar offset mean?
It compares the array's estimated annual production with the home's expected annual consumption. A house using 12,000 kWh a year with a system expected to generate 11,400 kWh has a 95 percent offset. It is an annual energy comparison, not a promise that solar supplies 95 percent of the electricity in any given hour.
