New Jersey homeowners can take advantage of substantial incentives, totaling up to $2,750, including federal, state, and utility programs. By tapping into these incentives, some homeowners can completely offset the cost of purchasing and installing a Level 2 EV charger, making it a financially smart and rewarding investment.
$1,000 Federal Tax Credit
Consumers who purchase qualified residential fueling equipment between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2032, may receive a 30% federal tax credit of up to $1,000.
$600 Federal Tax Credit
From January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2032, eligible consumers installing a 200-amp service panel required for their Energy Star rated EV Charger can claim a 30% tax credit of up to $600.
$250 EV Charger Rebate
Charge-up New Jersey is offering a $250 incentive toward your new electric vehicle charging infrastructure. To advance electric vehicle (EV) adoption and support clean transportation in New Jersey, the Board of Public Utilities has approved $3 million to fund in-home EV charging. Residents can use their incentive for the purchase and installation of one of the eligible Level 2 charger models.
Note: The Tesla Wall Connectors are not eligible.
$1,500 Rebate from JCP&L
Customers who install a qualified L2 charger (ChargePoint is eligible) will receive 100% of the cost of the customer make-ready work from JCP&L, up to $1,500. Currently only the first 2,000 applications will be accepted. JCP&L must be able to retrieve data from the charger to complete the application. Also provides a utility make-ready incentive will be based on the actual cost of the utility make-ready work necessary for each installation, up to $5,500 per qualifying installation site. This program ends on December 31, 2026, or when funds run out (whichever comes first). The incentive will be paid by JCP&L within forty-five (45) calendar days of receipt and validation of all required information, confirmation of charger installation and fulfillment of all customer eligibility requirements.
Effective August 28th, 2024, JCP&L is again accepting new applications for residential customer Make-Ready incentives and residential off-peak time of use ("TOU") rate credits under its EV Driven Program. Customers may continue to submit applications for JCP&L's Basic Generation Service ("BGS") TOU rate credit program and non-residential programs through this enrollment portal as well. Please note, installation work that occurred when the Residential Customer Sub-Program was closed (September 30, 2023 to August 27, 2024) is not eligible for the residential Make-Ready incentives.

Eligible customers can receive an on-bill credit of up to $1,500 per charger toward the cost of upgrading customer-side make-ready assets required for the installation of EV charging hardware. Customers can qualify for a reduction of up to $5,000 in any required customer deposit for utility-side make-ready work performed by PSE&G to support the additional electric load required for EV chargers. The incentive will be paid by PSE&G within forty-five (45) calendar days of receipt and validation of all required information, confirmation of charger installation and fulfillment of all customer eligibility requirements.

Residential customers may be eligible for a rebate up to 50% of electrical upgrade costs – or a maximum of $1,000 – for installing a L2 EV charger at home. Jersey Central Power & Light EV Driven Program - Off-Peak Rate Credit
JCP&L residential customers who sign up for the program will receive a $0.02/kWh net off-peak charging credit on their bill for the kWhs they use to charge their EV during off-peak hours. Conditions may apply. Typical savings: $0.02 per kilowatt-hour.
