Gene from Hazlet, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since October of 2015. He signed in the middle of October and the generator was commissioned on the tenth of December, a 16 kW Generac in a steel enclosure on its own pad behind a 100-amp service-rated switch. It covers 1,186 square feet with a refrigerator, a dishwasher and the laundry. A PowerBase plan has kept it serviced since. Hazlet is in Monmouth County.

Standby generator questions from Hazlet homeowners
What fuel does a home standby generator use?
Most residential air-cooled standby generators are designed to run on either natural gas or vapour-withdrawn liquid propane. The generator and its fuel system have to be configured for whichever is chosen, and the required pressure, capacity and consumption figures depend on the model.
Will a 16 kW generator run an entire Hazlet house?
For many homes, yes, but that does not mean every load can run at the same moment. Houses with two central air conditioners, electric heat, EV charging, pool equipment or electric cooking may need load management or a larger machine. The answer comes from a load calculation rather than from the phrase whole house.
Does a generator need a concrete pad?
Not universally. Approved alternative support systems are permitted for applicable models. Concrete or an engineered platform may still be required because of the site conditions, flood requirements, anchoring, municipal requirements or structural design -- but it is not automatic.
