The 20 kW Generac standby was installed by another company in September of 2011, and in 2019 the servicing switched to Green Sun. The eight-year service was completed in August of 2019 and the nine-year service in July of 2020, each covering spark plug and air filter, oil and filter, battery inspection, load testing and a full performance check. The second visit is the one worth describing: the technician found rust on the fuel plenum, the part that carries gas into the engine, and it was replaced under Generac’s inspection program at no cost to the homeowner. Corrosion there is invisible with the enclosure closed, and finding it is exactly what an annual look inside the machine is for.
