1,337 Christmas lights in Holmdel, NJ by Green Sun Energy Services.
Tom and Karen from Holmdel, NJ have been Green Sun Energy Services clients since May of 2025. Two jobs at opposite ends of one year: the house was washed in June and lit in November.
10,659 square feet soft washed
Soft washing is not power washing. The surfaces are treated with a sodium hypochlorite and surfactant solution that kills the organic growth – the dark streaking that spreads across a shaded roof slope, the green film that creeps up siding on the north side of a house – and then rinsed at low pressure. Nothing is blasted. On a roof that matters more than it sounds: high-pressure water strips the mineral granules off asphalt shingles, and a shingle without its granules is a shingle aging early. At 10,659 square feet this was the bulk of the exterior rather than a spot treatment.
1,337 C9 bulbs on the roofline
The holiday installation followed in November – 1,337 commercial-grade C9 bulbs in multi-color, supplied by Green Sun and run along the roofline. C9 is the large traditional bulb, and at that count the line follows the full perimeter of the house rather than the front elevation alone.
Washed first, then lit
Both jobs are the same rooflines, the same access and the same ladders, which is the plain reason one contractor doing both is less disruptive than two. It also put them in a sensible order. The decorations went up against a surface cleaned five months earlier rather than one carrying a full season of growth, and the crew working the eaves in November had already been over every foot of them in June.
Why Tom and Karen chose Green Sun Energy Services
A professionally designed holiday display without climbing a single ladder.

Questions from Holmdel homeowners
Holiday lightingCan you light only the front of the house?
Yes. Many homeowners start with the street-facing roofline and entryway for maximum visual impact. Side or rear rooflines can be added when they are visible from the street, yard, or entertaining areas.
Holiday lightingCan neighbors complain about bright Christmas lights?
Yes. Even when a display is legal, excessively bright lights shining into neighboring windows or operating all night can create conflict. Thoughtful aiming and reasonable hours help.
Holiday lightingWhen are Christmas lights usually taken down in Holmdel, NJ?
Takedown typically begins in early January and may continue for several weeks depending on weather, snow, and ice. Professional companies usually prioritize safe conditions rather than climbing on frozen roofs.
Soft washingWhat are the green stains on vinyl siding?
They are frequently algae or other moisture-related biological growth, although not every green discoloration is identical. Shade, humidity and vegetation make growth more common. Soft washing treats the contamination without requiring aggressive pressure.
Soft washingCan pressure washing damage stucco?
Yes. Improper high-pressure cleaning can damage stucco finishes, open cracks or drive moisture into the wall assembly. A gentler wash method is generally preferred unless a specific durable surface condition justifies controlled pressure.
