Green Sun Energy Services replied
Thank you. Working around a home rather than through it is something we ask of every crew, and it is easy to say and harder to do on an installation day. Glad the work was clean and the household left as it was found. Thank you for choosing Green Sun Energy Services.
Standby generator questions from Middletown homeowners
Does new gas piping have to be pressure tested in Middletown?
Yes. Gas piping subject to the adopted fuel-gas code must be inspected and tested before it is accepted. New Jersey adopts the 2024 International Fuel Gas Code, which governs the inspection, the test pressure and how long the test has to hold.
Does the house run on the generator during its weekly exercise?
Not necessarily -- it depends on the generation of equipment, the controller and the configuration. Traditional systems commonly exercise without transferring the house at all. Newer equipment with current controls may support different exercise and transfer behaviour.
Does the generator have to be bolted down?
Not every ground-level installation uses the same anchoring method. The requirement changes with the model, the pad type, wind exposure, flood requirements, elevated platforms and any local engineering requirement. The model manual and the site conditions decide it.
