Larry from Marlboro, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since February of 2021. The generator went in that November: a 14 kW Generac Guardian on natural gas, with a 200-amp service-entrance transfer switch in the garage and a smart management module. That last piece is what lets 14 kW cover an entire 1,878 square foot house rather than a few chosen circuits – the module eases off the largest load for a moment when demand peaks, instead of the house being split into essential and non-essential from the start. The generator is supported by one of our service plans: annual maintenance, an extended parts-and-labor warranty, and monitoring we manage directly.

Standby generator questions from Marlboro homeowners
Can a generator go under a deck?
Only if the specific installation satisfies every requirement for overhead clearance, airflow, exhaust, fire separation, carbon-monoxide safety and service access. Because the applicable guidance commonly requires substantial overhead clearance, many ordinary under-deck locations will not qualify. It is a site-specific review rather than a standard placement.
Can a standby generator run central air conditioning?
Yes, when it is sized for it. The design has to account for both the running demand and the starting surge of the air-conditioning equipment. Load-management equipment can be used where necessary so that demand does not all arrive at once.
Does new gas piping have to be pressure tested in Marlboro?
Yes. Gas piping subject to the adopted fuel-gas code must be inspected and tested before it is accepted. New Jersey adopts the 2024 International Fuel Gas Code, which governs the inspection, the test pressure and how long the test has to hold.
