What happens if the manufacturer and Scotch Plains disagree?
The installation has to satisfy all applicable requirements. A manufacturer's listing cannot be ignored, and a manufacturer's minimum clearance does not cancel a municipal zoning requirement. What is a sediment trap for?
It helps stop foreign material in the gas line from reaching the generator's fuel controls. Where the fuel-gas code and the system configuration call for one, it is fitted, and the maintenance schedule includes inspecting or cleaning it.
Can a generator go under a deck?
Only if the specific installation satisfies every requirement for overhead clearance, airflow, exhaust, fire separation, carbon-monoxide safety and service access. Because the applicable guidance commonly requires substantial overhead clearance, many ordinary under-deck locations will not qualify. It is a site-specific review rather than a standard placement.
