Two service panels is what a 3,900 square foot house often ends up with, and it changes the shape of the job – each panel needs its own switch, and the load management has to work across both so the machine is never asked for more than it can give. Can the platform height be read off the FEMA flood map?
Not necessarily. The map matters, but it may not carry every elevation the platform design needs. An Elevation Certificate, a surveyed ground elevation, the Base Flood Elevation, the Design Flood Elevation, the local freeboard and the municipal flood ordinance can all bear on it, so the height is calculated for the specific property.
Can an existing propane tank be reused for a new generator?
Possibly. Existing propane equipment can be reused when it is correctly sized, sited, regulated, maintained and capable of supplying the demand the generator adds. The propane supplier should verify capacity and regulator performance before the machine is commissioned rather than after.
Can a generator sit on compacted stone?
Certain air-cooled models can, on a properly prepared compacted aggregate base, where the applicable installation manual permits it. The base has to be stable, level, and resistant to settling and erosion, and the preparation comes from the model's own manual rather than from general practice.
