20 kW Standby Generator Service in Millstone Township, NJ | Client Since 2019

Millstone Township, NJ · Client since July 2019

Heather from Millstone Township, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2019. The 20 kW Generac standby was installed by another company in December of 2014, and in 2019 the servicing switched to Green Sun, beginning with a startup inspection to establish the condition of a machine we had not installed. One of our annual service plans supports it: spark plug and air filter, oil and filter, battery inspection, load testing and a full performance check every year, with the most recent service completed in February of 2026. The meter had reached 301 hours by then, up from 94 at that first visit, and the whole house runs from the generator through a managed transfer switch rather than a chosen handful of circuits.

Standby generator questions from Millstone Township homeowners

Can a generator be converted from propane to natural gas later?

Many air-cooled models can be configured for either fuel, but the conversion has to follow the exact procedure for that model. The new natural-gas supply then has to be properly sized and pressure-tested for the generator before it is put into service.

Can a generator be installed on a deck or a roof?

Platform, deck and supporting-structure installations are recognized, but they call for additional review: structural capacity, noncombustible surface requirements, fire clearance, exhaust, airflow, vibration, service access and local requirements all have to be addressed. It is a site-specific installation rather than a routine location.

What does the automatic transfer switch do?

It moves the home's electrical supply between the utility and the generator. That is what lets the system work automatically, and it is also what prevents the house being connected to both sources at once. It is the piece that makes the rest safe.
