The generator was commissioned that October: a Generac Guardian rated 19.5 kW on natural gas, on a 200-amp service-entrance switch with a smart management module. The load calculation asked for 17 kW across the 3,600 square foot house – two sump pumps, a double electric oven, three refrigerators, a washer, a gas dryer and a dishwasher. A double oven and three refrigerators together are what lift the figure well past what the floor area alone would suggest, and the management module is what lets a single machine carry all of it without being sized for everything starting at once.
