Tyler from Holmdel, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2025. The array was completed in October: 33 panels making 14.19 kW, each with its own Enphase IQ8 microinverter, and an estimated 14,855 kilowatt hours in the first year. JCP&L interconnected it in December. At over fourteen kilowatts this is one of the larger residential systems on the site, and the microinverter design suits an array that size – there is no single inverter whose failure would take the whole system down, and a shaded or failing panel affects only itself. The existing roof was sound enough to take the array as it stood.

Can panels be added to the array later?
Yes, but an expansion is more than bolting on modules. It can affect the utility interconnection, net-metering eligibility, inverter capacity, the electrical calculations, permits, incentive eligibility and monitoring. Incentive rules matter particularly when panels are added to a system already receiving a generation incentive.
What is hosting capacity, and can it affect a Holmdel property?
Hosting capacity is how much distributed generation a part of the grid can take without affecting safety or reliability. A neighborhood with a lot of existing solar can face interconnection limits even where the individual property is ideal for it -- which is why the utility review is not a formality.
Does solar equipment have to be listed?
