Hui from Holmdel, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since June of 2018. He signed on the seventh of June and the generator was commissioned on the nineteenth, twelve days from signature to running, which is the fastest generator installation in our records. It is a 16 kW Generac in an aluminium enclosure on its own pad behind a 200-amp service-rated switch, covering 4,000 square feet. Holmdel is in Monmouth County.

Standby generator questions from Holmdel homeowners
Will a 16 kW generator run an entire Holmdel house?
For many homes, yes, but that does not mean every load can run at the same moment. Houses with two central air conditioners, electric heat, EV charging, pool equipment or electric cooking may need load management or a larger machine. The answer comes from a load calculation rather than from the phrase whole house.
Does the generator start on its own?
Yes. A properly installed standby generator left in AUTO is designed to start automatically when it detects an unacceptable loss of utility power. The transfer system then moves the household loads across, and when acceptable utility power returns it transfers them back and the generator runs through its programmed shutdown.
Can a standby generator be installed in the garage?
No. Residential air-cooled standby generators are designed for outdoor installation and must never be run inside a garage, basement, shed or any other enclosed occupied space. The engine produces carbon monoxide, which can cause serious injury or death. That is why outdoor location and separation from building openings are treated as critical rather than as preferences.
