Generac 18 kW Standby Generator in Atlantic Highlands, NJ | 100-Amp Service-Rated Switch

Atlantic Highlands, NJ · Client since February 2021

Steve from Atlantic Highlands, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since February of 2021. He signed in February and the generator was commissioned in November, a long wait that most of 2021 shared, an 18 kW Generac on its own pad with a 100-amp service-rated transfer switch and a management module for the largest load. A Generac service contract has covered it since. Atlantic Highlands is in Monmouth County, where the roads climb and the power lines take a beating.

Thank you, Steve. The 18 kW Generac at your home in Atlantic Highlands runs through a service-rated transfer switch, so the changeover happens without anybody at home to manage it. Glen and the crews will be pleased, and choosing us for the installation is the part we are most grateful for.

Standby generator questions from Atlantic Highlands homeowners

Will a 22 kW generator run an entire Atlantic Highlands house?

For many homes, yes, but that does not mean every load can run at the same moment. Houses with two central air conditioners, electric heat, EV charging, pool equipment or electric cooking may need load management or a larger machine. The answer comes from a load calculation rather than from the phrase whole house.

What happens when the utility power comes back?

The system detects the return of acceptable utility power and transfers the house back automatically. The generator then runs through a programmed cool-down before shutting off and returning to standby. Nobody has to switch anything back by hand.

How is the gas pipe size worked out?

From the generator's demand, the available pressure, the pipe length, the allowable pressure drop, the fittings, the pipe material and every other appliance connected to the system. The adopted fuel-gas code carries the sizing requirements and tables, and the model's published fuel consumption goes into the calculation.
