Michele from Atlantic Highlands, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2024. The generator was installed by another company and commissioned in August of 2020, and the servicing moved to us four years later. Cellular monitoring was set up at the same time, so the machine reports its own condition rather than waiting to be asked. It has been seen every year since – July of 2024, June of 2025 and May of 2026 – working up from the four-year service to the six-year, 1,000-hour one. The plan covers annual maintenance, an extended parts-and-labor warranty and the monitoring, which on a house above the bay is worth more than it sounds: this is a stretch of coast where outages arrive with weather rather than warning.

Standby generator questions from Atlantic Highlands homeowners
Can a generator go in the side yard of a Atlantic Highlands property?
Often yes, provided the side yard satisfies both the manufacturer's clearances and the municipality's zoning requirements. The site review covers the property-line setback, windows and doors, the gas and electric meters, the air conditioner, neighboring structures, flood conditions, service access and any local screening requirement.
Is a standby generator the same as a portable one?
No. A home standby generator is permanently installed and automatically connected to the home's electrical and fuel systems. A portable normally has to be placed, fuelled, started and connected by hand each time, using approved connection equipment. The standby machine is designed as an integrated backup-power system rather than as something you fetch out of the garage.
Can the generator be connected to any nearby gas pipe?
No. The branch supplying the generator has to be sized for the flow and pressure the machine needs. A pipe that happens to be close by may be too small, or may already be carrying too much load. Undersized piping shows up as poor starting, unstable running, reduced output or a generator that shuts down under load.
