Two repairs were handled under the manufacturer’s warranty along the way, in 2021 and 2022. A generator a decade into its life is past the point where faults announce themselves politely, which is why the visits matter more now than they did at year three.

What gas pressure does a generator need?
It is model-specific and has to be read off the specification sheet rather than assumed. A current 22 kW model, for instance, specifies a minimum natural-gas pressure of 3.5 inches water column. Different models carry different requirements.
Can a generator be installed on a deck or a roof?
Platform, deck and supporting-structure installations are recognized, but they call for additional review: structural capacity, noncombustible surface requirements, fire clearance, exhaust, airflow, vibration, service access and local requirements all have to be addressed. It is a site-specific installation rather than a routine location.
How is a standby generator grounded?
The grounding and bonding arrangement depends on the transfer-switch configuration, and in particular on whether the neutral is switched and the generator therefore treated as a separately derived system. It is designed by a qualified electrical contractor rather than assumed from another installation.
