Green Sun Energy Services took over the servicing of a Generac standby generator at a home in Middletown, a client since July of 2026. The machine was installed by another company back in October of 2014 and had been running quietly ever since. The first visit under the new arrangement was completed in August of 2026, and it went in at the ten-year service interval rather than the hours-based one, because after twelve years the generator had recorded only 103.8 running hours. That is a telling number. A standby generator that has barely run is not a generator that needs nothing — seals dry out, fuel and oil age, batteries lose their charge, and none of it announces itself until the power goes off and the machine is asked to work. The service covers the annual visit: spark plug and air filter, oil and filter, battery inspection, load testing and diagnostics, firmware updates and a full performance check. An older unit that has been left alone is exactly the kind we would rather see on a schedule.
