Quality of Life Chiropractic Center in Eatontown, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2023. The roof and the array were bought together in August and installed nine days apart that November.
4,600 square feet of new roof
The old covering came off in a single layer on 19 November 2023 – stripped back to the deck rather than shingled over – and went back on as a GAF Timberline Lifetime system. There are 385 linear feet of rakes, eaves and valleys on the building, and edges are where a roof of this size starts letting water in.
18.48 kW and 44 REC panels
The array followed on 28 November: forty-four REC 420-watt panels, 18.48 kW in total, estimated at 16,975 kWh in the first year, on a Snap-N-Rack rail-free system, with 260 linear feet of critter guard closed around the perimeter.
Why the roof went first
An array has a working life measured in decades and the covering beneath it does not. Putting panels on a roof near the end of its life means taking them off and putting them back when the shingles finally go – and on a practice seeing patients every day, that is a second disruption nobody wants. Doing both in one November means the array will very likely never have to move, and the building was on the contractors’ schedule once rather than twice.
