Seven Services and a Battery in Atlantic Highlands

Atlantic Highlands, NJ · Client since May 2020

Kristy from Atlantic Highlands, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since May of 2020. The generator was installed by another company and commissioned in June of 2013, and the servicing came to us seven years later. Every interval since has been kept – the six-year service in 2020, then 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and again at the start of 2026, seven visits without a gap. A replacement battery was fitted in the spring of 2021, at the machine’s eighth year, which is about where an original battery gives up if nobody has replaced it sooner. An annual maintenance plan covers the yearly visit.

Standby generator questions from Atlantic Highlands homeowners

What is Base Flood Elevation and why does it matter here?

Base Flood Elevation is the elevation associated with the base flood -- generally the flood with a one per cent chance of being reached or exceeded in any year. For a generator it is often the starting point for working out how high the mechanical and electrical equipment has to be protected or raised.

Can a generator be installed on a deck or a roof?

Platform, deck and supporting-structure installations are recognised, but they call for additional review: structural capacity, noncombustible surface requirements, fire clearance, exhaust, airflow, vibration, service access and local requirements all have to be addressed. It is a site-specific installation rather than a routine location.

Why do outages last longer on some Atlantic Highlands streets than others?

Mature tree cover over overhead lines is the usual reason. Limbs coming down in wind, snow or ice take the lines with them, so heavily treed streets tend to see both more frequent outages and longer restoration times than open ones. It is one of the honest arguments for standby power rather than a portable generator.
