Standby Generator Service

Jaclyn from Colonia, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since May of 2021. The generator was commissioned in February of 2022: a Generac Guardian rated 19.5 kW on natural gas, on a 200-amp service-entrance switch with two smart management modules. The load calculation asked for 15 kW across the 3,000 square foot house, so the machine carries a comfortable margin – and two sump pumps are the reason that margin is worth having, since both will want to run in exactly the storm that takes the power down. Nine months separated the contract from the commissioning, the

Anthony from Barnegat, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2024. The generator was commissioned five days after the contract: a Generac Guardian rated 19.5 kW on natural gas, on a 150-amp service-entrance switch with a smart management module and surge protection. The house is 1,600 square feet and the load calculation came to 19 kW – one of the highest ratios of demand to floor area on the site. An electric range and oven combination, an electric dryer, two refrigerators, a sump pump and a dishwasher explain it: all-electric cooking and laundry in a

Charles and Rosemary from Farmingdale, NJ have been Green Sun Energy Services clients since December of 2012, which makes this among the oldest relationships on the site. The generator was commissioned in May of 2013: 14 kW on natural gas, on a whole-house transfer switch, for a 2,171 square foot house. Thirteen years is long enough to stop being a claim and start being evidence. An annual maintenance plan still covers the machine, and the arithmetic is worth stating plainly: a standby generator sits idle for almost the whole of its life, and whether it starts in its thirteenth year

Daniel from Kenilworth, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2019. The generator was commissioned that October: 16 kW on natural gas, on a 200-amp whole-house transfer switch, sized against a 16 kW calculation for 4,000 square feet. A sump pump, two refrigerators, a washer, a gas dryer and a dishwasher make up the load, and the machine matches the requirement exactly rather than carrying a margin above it. Sizing to the number is the decision that leans hardest on the survey being right, and seven years of the machine carrying the house is the

William from Farmingdale, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since May of 2014. The generator was commissioned that November: 11 kW in a steel enclosure on natural gas, on a 200-amp service-entrance switch with two priority management modules. The load calculation asked for 11 kW across the 1,900 square foot house, with a double electric oven doing most of the work in that figure, so the machine matches the requirement exactly rather than exceeding it. Twelve years on it is still under an annual maintenance plan. Sizing to the calculation rather than above it is the cheaper

John from Middletown, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2020. The generator was commissioned that December: 16 kW on natural gas, on a 200-amp service-entrance switch with a 100-amp smart management module, sized against a 13 kW calculation for the 2,164 square foot house. The management module here is rated at 100 amps rather than the usual 50, which is the arrangement used when the load being held back is a large one – typically central air conditioning, the single biggest thing a house asks a generator to start. Annual maintenance, an extended parts-and-labor

Thomas from Middletown, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2020. The generator was commissioned in March of 2021: 16 kW on natural gas, on a 150-amp service-entrance switch, sized against a 14 kW calculation for the 2,375 square foot house. A sump pump, two refrigerators, a separate freezer, a washer, a gas dryer and a dishwasher make up the load. Seven months passed between the contract and the commissioning, which was normal for a generator booked in the second half of 2020 – demand ran well ahead of what manufacturers could ship, and the

Marty from Scotch Plains, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2013, which puts this among the oldest generator relationships on the site. The machine was commissioned that September: 20 kW on natural gas, on a 200-amp service-entrance switch with two priority management modules. The load survey lists two electric ovens, two sump pumps, two refrigerators, a washer and a gas dryer across 3,800 square feet – the calculation came to 11 kW, so the generator was specified at nearly twice the requirement. Two sump pumps is the detail that justifies the margin: both may

Diane from Atlantic Highlands, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2024. The generator was commissioned that November: a Generac Guardian rated 19.5 kW on natural gas, on a 200-amp service-entrance switch with three smart management modules and surge protection. The load calculation asked for 14 kW across the 2,490 square foot house, so there is a wide margin over the requirement. Atlantic Highlands sits on the highest ground on the Atlantic coast south of Maine, and elevation cuts both ways – the flooding risk is lower than the bayfront towns nearby, but the wind

Carol from Hillsborough, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since October of 2022. The generator was commissioned in April of 2023: a Generac Guardian rated 17 kW on natural gas, on a 150-amp service-entrance switch with a smart management module and surge protection. The load calculation asked for 16 kW across the 2,900 square foot house, carrying two refrigerators, a separate freezer, a washer, a gas dryer and a dishwasher. Cold storage is the quiet argument for backup power – a freezer that stays cold through a three-day outage saves more than most people expect, and one
