18 kW Generac standby generator

At 2,300 square feet this is not a large house, and the electric dryer is why the code calculation still came to a 15 kW minimum: an electric dryer draws several times what a gas one does, and it is the single appliance most likely to push a modest house up into a larger machine. Standby generator questions from Little Silver homeowners
Does new gas piping have to be pressure tested in Little Silver?
Yes. Gas piping subject to the adopted fuel-gas code must be inspected and tested before it is accepted. New Jersey adopts the 2024 International Fuel Gas Code, which governs the inspection, the test pressure and how long the test has to hold.
Will it work if nobody is home?
Yes, which is one of the main advantages over a portable generator. It has to be properly installed, fuelled, maintained, free of active shutdown alarms and left in AUTO. That matters most where an outage would otherwise stop a sump pump, the heating, refrigeration or a well pump while the house is empty.
Why do outages last longer on some Little Silver streets than others?
Mature tree cover over overhead lines is the usual reason.
