Steve from Summit, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since December of 2023. Both jobs finished on the same day, 9 January: 37 panels totalling 8.33 kW were removed and disposed of – along with the mounting system, the inverters, the disconnects, the exterior conduit and wiring and the meters – and 2,600 square feet of new composition shingle in pewter gray went on with a 50-year warranty. The old roof came off in a single layer, stripped to the sheathing and hauled away. Removing an array to reroof is the job most roofers will not take on, and it is the reason a roof under solar so often gets left until it is too late: the panels have to come off, the deck has to be dealt with properly, and somebody has to be responsible for both.
