Does New Brunswick inspect an EV charger installation?
Where the work requires an electrical permit, the municipal electrical inspector reviews it before the permit is closed. That inspection is the record that the circuit, the breaker, the conductors and the equipment connection were done to code, and it is worth having whether or not a rebate depends on it.
Does a bigger charger always charge the car faster?
No. Charging speed is limited by whichever part of the chain has the least capacity: the charging equipment, the branch circuit, the electrical service or the vehicle's onboard charger. Installing a 48-amp charger does not make a car with a 32-amp onboard charger accept 48 amps.
Can a Tesla Wall Connector be set below its maximum?
Yes. It can be commissioned to operate below 48 amps where the house's electrical system will not support the full rate. That is often what makes a charger possible without a service upgrade, and for most driving the difference in overnight charging is smaller than it sounds.
