Patrick Gray has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2025. The array was signed on the 20th and the roof the following day. The roof was finished on 3 November 2025 and the panels went on nine days later.
3,000 square feet, stripped to the deck
A single layer of old shingles came off down to the sheathing and left with the dumpster. Deck protection went over the exposed sheathing, then a GAF Timberline HDZ system in Hickory carrying a 50-year warranty, aluminum drip edge along 355 feet of rakes, eaves and valleys, and a ridge vent along the peak.
12 panels and 5.16 kW
Twelve JinkoSolar JKM430N panels at 430 watts each came to 5.16 kW on Unirac mounting, finished on 12 November 2025, with an Enphase IQ8PLUS microinverter behind every panel rather than one central inverter. PSE&G is the utility and the first year was designed for about 5,756 kWh.
A small array and a whole roof
Twelve panels is a modest array and 3,000 square feet is a whole roof, so the two halves of this job are nothing like the same size. The order still matters exactly as much. Whether an array is twelve panels or fifty, it is bolted through the shingles and it is staying there for twenty-five years and more; a roof near the end of its life underneath even a small array is the same second job later — panels off, roof on, panels back. Signing the roof the day after the array is what stopped that job from ever existing.

Yes, but an expansion is more than bolting on modules. It can affect the utility interconnection, net-metering eligibility, inverter capacity, the electrical calculations, permits, incentive eligibility and monitoring. Incentive rules matter particularly when panels are added to a system already receiving a generation incentive.
SolarDoes Verona decide whether the installation is code-compliant?
The municipal construction department reviews and inspects the work under the Uniform Construction Code, but the substantive electrical requirements come from the statewide Electrical Subcode rather than from local preference. Municipalities may also administer zoning requirements where those apply.
