Mitchell from Califon, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2025, and the whole of it – roof, array and car charger – was done inside eight days that October.
1,300 square feet of new roof
Finished on 24 October. A single layer stripped to the sheathing and carted away rather than covered over, then 1,300 square feet of GAF Timberline HDZ in charcoal, warranted fifty years, with continuous soffit vents at the intake.
27 panels and 11.75 kW
Five days later, on 29 October: 27 Hyundai 435-watt modules with Enphase IQ8PLUS microinverters, rail-mounted, split 9.14 and 2.61 kW across two roof faces and estimated at 13,292 kilowatt hours in the first year. A hundred and sixty feet of critter guard went on around the perimeter, and the monitoring gateway sits outdoors beside the meter. JCP&L interconnected it in December.
A ChargePoint with a NACS connector
Into the garage on 31 October, on a dedicated 60-amp circuit at 11.5 kW – roughly 36 miles of range an hour. The connector is the part worth noticing: this is a NACS charger, the Tesla-style plug, rather than the J1772 we fit more often. Which connector a house needs is a question about the car in the driveway rather than about the house, and it is a much better question to ask before the wall is closed up than after.
Eight days, one crew, one order
Doing all three in a single run is not merely convenient, it is the cheapest order there is. The roof was bare when the array went onto it, so no panel was ever fixed to shingles that were about to be torn off. The array’s electrical work and the charger’s both happened while an electrician was already at the panel with the load calculation in hand – 47 amps for the charger against a 200-amp service, established once instead of three times. Spread those same three jobs across three years and three contractors and every one of those savings turns back into an extra visit.
