Jennifer from Middletown, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2023. The generator was installed by another company and commissioned in January of 2015, and the servicing came to us eight years later. It has been seen every July since – the eight-year service in 2023, the nine-year in 2024, the ten-year in 2025 and again in 2026. Servicing in high summer is the sensible timing on a machine that will be asked to work in a winter storm: the visit happens when nothing is urgent, and any part that needs ordering arrives with months to spare rather than during the outage that revealed it. An annual maintenance plan covers the visit.

Standby generator questions from Middletown homeowners
Will a 22 kW generator run an entire Middletown house?
For many homes, yes, but that does not mean every load can run at the same moment. Houses with two central air conditioners, electric heat, EV charging, pool equipment or electric cooking may need load management or a larger machine. The answer comes from a load calculation rather than from the phrase whole house.
Does a generator need a concrete pad?
Not universally. Approved alternative support systems are permitted for applicable models. Concrete or an engineered platform may still be required because of the site conditions, flood requirements, anchoring, municipal requirements or structural design -- but it is not automatic.
Does a 200-amp service need a 200-amp transfer switch?
A transfer switch installed in the service path has to be rated appropriately for the service and the configuration. A 200-amp service commonly uses a 200-amp service-rated switch, but the actual design is confirmed by the electrician rather than assumed from the service size.
