8 kW Standby Generator Service in Aberdeen, NJ | Generac Generator

Aberdeen, NJ · Client since December 2021

Burt from Aberdeen, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since December of 2021. The generator was installed by another company and commissioned in August of 2014, and the servicing came to us seven years later. Four intervals have been kept since, each late in the year: the seven-year service in December of 2021, the eight-year in November of 2022, the nine-year in November of 2023 and the ten-year service in November of 2024. November is a sensible time for it – the machine is put in order before winter rather than after the first storm has already found the fault. Each visit was arranged individually rather than under a plan, which is a perfectly reasonable way to keep a machine in order.

Standby generator questions from Aberdeen homeowners

Can a generator be installed in a flood zone in Aberdeen?

Yes, but the generator and its electrical equipment may need to be elevated or otherwise protected. The installation is evaluated against the property's FEMA flood zone, its Base Flood Elevation and Design Flood Elevation, the municipal flood ordinance, any applicable freeboard, and NJDEP requirements where they apply. It is a property-by-property assessment rather than a rule of thumb.

Can the generator be connected to any nearby gas pipe?

No. The branch supplying the generator has to be sized for the flow and pressure the machine needs. A pipe that happens to be close by may be too small, or may already be carrying too much load. Undersized piping shows up as poor starting, unstable running, reduced output or a generator that shuts down under load.

Does every generator need a valve adjustment?

No. Valve-clearance requirements depend on the engine and the model. The technician identifies the model and serial number and follows the applicable maintenance schedule, rather than assuming every air-cooled machine gets the same procedure.
