Johanna from Red Bank, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since April of 2023. Three jobs followed inside seven months: we took over the servicing of a generator another company had installed, fitted an EV charger in September, and commissioned an 11.34 kW array in October.
A generator we did not install
The machine is a Generac model 70432, rated 22 kW on propane and 19.5 kW on natural gas, and it was already on the property when Johanna switched the servicing to us. Four services have been completed between 2023 and 2025, the most recent with 37 hours on the meter.
A ChargePoint charger
A ChargePoint CPH50 went in that September, on the J1772 connector, drawing up to 11.5 kW from the home’s 200-amp service.
11.34 kW of solar
Twenty-seven REC 420-watt panels went up in October on a Snap-N-Rack mounting system, with 196 feet of critter guard fitted around the array to keep squirrels out from underneath. The modeling put first-year production at 14,283 kWh.
How the three fit together
A grid-tied array stops producing the moment the grid goes down, which is the gap the generator covers. The charger was already installed when the array went up a month later, so the car’s demand was a known figure on the roof rather than a projection.

Standby generatorCan a generator be installed in a flood zone in Red Bank?
Yes, but the generator and its electrical equipment may need to be elevated or otherwise protected. The installation is evaluated against the property's FEMA flood zone, its Base Flood Elevation and Design Flood Elevation, the municipal flood ordinance, any applicable freeboard, and NJDEP requirements where they apply. It is a property-by-property assessment rather than a rule of thumb.
