Green Sun Energy Services installed both a rooftop solar array and a Generac standby generator at a home in Middletown, for a client since June of 2024. The two projects landed within two weeks of each other in August of 2024 — the generator on the thirteenth, the solar array on the twenty-sixth — with JCP&L interconnection following in October. The roof was composition, a single layer and only three years old, so the array went straight onto the existing surface with no roofing work needed. Twenty-two panels, 10.12 kW, all facing due south at a thirty-degree pitch and feeding a SolarEdge energy hub inverter. The generator was sized from a survey of what the 2,100 square foot house actually draws — a gas dryer and washer, two refrigerators, a freezer, a dishwasher and a microwave — which set a minimum of 18 kW under the National Electrical Code; the installed machine delivers 19.5 kW on natural gas, with the transfer switch outdoors beside the meter. The service plan covers annual maintenance, an extended parts and labor warranty, and remote monitoring managed by Green Sun, so a fault is noticed without anyone having to walk out and check the machine.
