Solar Panel Installation

No two roofs are the same. The pitch, the shade from the tree next door, the direction the house faces and what the family actually uses through the year all change what belongs up there. These are solar arrays we designed and installed across New Jersey, and each one names the panels, the inverter and the size of the system along with the town it is in. Real jobs on real houses, photographed where we had the chance.

319 completed solar projects across 139 New Jersey towns, including 73 with a review written by the customer.

37-panel 17.02 kW solar array in Princeton, NJ

Roof, Solar and Generator in Princeton, NJ | 17.02 kW Array and 26 kW Backup

Mohamad from Princeton, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since January of 2025, when he bought all three trades on a single day. What the house needed was not simply a new array – it already had one, sitting on a roof that had reached the end of its life. The array that had to come off first: There is no way to reroof a house underneath a live solar array. The panels are fastened through the roof they sit on, so the existing system was taken down before the roofers arrived and the deck was handed […]

Solar Panel Installation in Brick, NJ

Solar Panel Installation in Brick, NJ | 12.9 kW Array with 43 Hanwha Panels

Jacek from Brick, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since March of 2017. He signed at the start of March and the array was producing before Memorial Day, 43 Hanwha 300 watt panels on a SolarEdge inverter with an optimizer behind every module. At 12.9 kW it was sized to carry most of the electricity the house uses, with a design estimate of 13,861 kWh in its first year. Brick is in Ocean County, where the roofs face open sky and the systems earn well.

33-panel 11.22 kW solar array in Oceanport, NJ

Solar Panel Installation and Soft Washing in Oceanport, NJ | Thirty-Three Panels and a Row of Pines

Charlotte in Oceanport has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since October of 2020. The array was commissioned that December and we soft washed the house in May 2025. Thirty-three panels, and a condition: Thirty-three LG 340-watt panels went onto the back of this house in two groups — eighteen on the main roof and fifteen over the garage — both at a shallow 22.6-degree pitch on an azimuth of 145 degrees. It is a good roof: the main group has no measured shading at all. The garage group is the one with a story attached. It carries eight

29-panel 12.47 kW solar array in Union, NJ

Standby Generator Service and Solar Panel Installation in Union, NJ | 29 Panels for a Client Since 2018

Gregory Chung has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2018, when he took out a PowerBase Silver service plan on a Generac 6250 standby generator that another company had installed. Solar followed in September of 2025. A plan on a generator we did not install: The 20 kW Generac 6250 was already on the pad when the relationship started. Green Sun did not sell it and did not install it. The plan covers the maintenance, and the machine has run under that plan through its most recent service visit in September 2025. PowerBase Silver is the

Solar Panel Installation in Brick, NJ | 42 Panels and 12.6 kW, Later Rebuilt

Carleen and Rick from Brick, NJ have been Green Sun Energy Services clients since December of 2016. The array went up that winter and came back to us three years later for a rebuild. 12.6 kW of solar: Forty-two LG 300-watt panels in all black, on a QuickMount mounting system, commissioned in December of 2016. First-year production was modeled at 15,251 kWh, which makes this one of the larger residential arrays in the set. Removed and replaced: In November of 2019 the array was taken down and rebuilt at 10.71 kW. A remove and replace is ordinary work on a

A New Roof and 43 Panels in Monroe Township, NJ

Gene and Olivia Gershanok have been Green Sun Energy Services clients since February of 2019, when the roof and the solar array were bought on the same day. The roof was finished on 17 March 2019 and the array three weeks later. 4,500 square feet, stripped to the deck: A single layer of old shingles came off down to the sheathing and left with the dumpster. Deck protection went over the exposed sheathing, then a GAF Timberline HDZ system carrying a 50-year warranty, aluminum drip edge along 420 feet of rakes, eaves and valleys, and a ridge vent along the

Standby Generator Service and Solar Panel Installation in Hazlet, NJ | Overhead Lines, 27 Panels and a Takeover

Megan in Hazlet has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2017. The array went up that October and the generator already on the property came onto our books that December. 27 panels in October 2017: Twenty-seven Trina 285-watt panels, 7.7 kW in total, on Ecolibrium mounting with a SolarEdge SE7600A inverter and a P320 optimizer on every panel. Estimated first-year production is 9,218 kWh and the utility is JCP&L. It was commissioned on 12 October 2017. A 14 kW machine taken on that December: The standby generator here was installed by another company — a Generac

Solar Panel Installation and Roofing Installation in North Middletown, NJ | Solar in Two Phases

James and Ellen Lafargue have been Green Sun Energy Services clients since April of 2016, when the roof and the first phase of a solar array were bought on the same day. The roof was finished on 28 May 2016 and the panels a week later. A second phase followed three years after that. 4,400 square feet, stripped to the deck: A single layer of old shingles came off down to the sheathing and left with the dumpster. Deck protection went over the exposed sheathing, then a GAF Timberline HDZ system in Williamsburg Slate carrying a 50-year warranty, aluminum drip

Solar Panel Installation in Ship Bottom, NJ | 23 REC Panels, 9.315 kW and SolarEdge Battery Storage

Christopher from Ship Bottom, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since June of 2022. Twenty-three REC panels went up on Snap-N-Rack mounting that September, 9.315 kW in total, with a first-year production estimate of 12,431 kWh. A SolarEdge battery followed in November of 2023, and that second visit is what turns a grid-tied array into something useful in an outage: on its own an array shuts down when the utility does, for the safety of anyone working on the line, and the battery is what lets the house go on drawing from its own roof. On a

Solar Panel Installation in East Brunswick, NJ | 23 LG Panels and 7.245 kW

Vincent and Jennifer from East Brunswick, NJ have been Green Sun Energy Services clients since May of 2016. Twenty-three LG panels went up on QuickMount flashed mounts at the end of that June, 7.245 kW in total, with a first-year production estimate of 7,485 kWh. A flashed mount replaces the shingle it sits under with a metal base that laps into the course above, so the roof penetration is closed the way a plumbing vent is rather than by sealant alone. That detail is what decides whether an array that will be up for decades is also a roof problem

Roofing and Solar Panel Installation in Hillsborough, NJ | A 3,500 Square Foot Roof and 8.74 kW

Paul from Hillsborough, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since May of 2024. Both jobs were booked in the same week and finished eight days apart that summer, which is the sequence that makes the pair worth doing together. A 3,500 square foot roof: The roof came off and went back on at the end of July of 2024, 3,500 square feet in the GAF Timberline system, with 266 feet of rakes, eaves and valleys detailed as part of the work. Those edges are where a roof usually gives way first, because water tracks back under a

Solar Panel Installation in Princeton, NJ | 38 Jinko Panels, 16.34 kW and 324 Feet of Critter Guard

Cliff and Louise from Princeton, NJ have been Green Sun Energy Services clients since September of 2025. Thirty-eight Jinko panels went up on Unirac mounting at the end of that December, 16.34 kW in total, with a first-year production estimate of 12,069 kWh. Three hundred and twenty-four feet of critter guard was fitted around the array at the same time. Squirrels and nesting birds get under an unguarded array, chew wiring and pack debris against the roof, and the guard goes on with the panels in a single visit rather than needing the panels lifted again later. Six older 230-watt
