Standby Generator Service

A generator sits quietly for a year and then has to work on the one night it matters. That means the battery, the oil, the weekly test cycle and the transfer switch, all checked before the storm rather than during it. These are New Jersey homes we look after on a maintenance plan, and plenty of the generators on this list were installed by somebody else. Each one names the equipment on site and the town, so what you are reading is work we actually did rather than a list of what a plan covers.

939 completed generator service projects across 142 New Jersey towns, including 165 with a review written by the customer.

20 kW Standby Generator Service in Cream Ridge, NJ | A Corroded Fuel Plenum Caught at Service

Justin from Cream Ridge, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2019. The 20 kW Generac standby was installed by another company in September of 2011, and in 2019 the servicing switched to Green Sun. The eight-year service was completed in August of 2019 and the nine-year service in July of 2020, each covering spark plug and air filter, oil and filter, battery inspection, load testing and a full performance check. The second visit is the one worth describing: the technician found rust on the fuel plenum, the part that carries gas into the engine,

22 kW Standby Generator Service in Colts Neck, NJ | Client Since 2019

MaryAnn from Colts Neck, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2019. The 22 kW Generac standby was installed by another company in November of 2015, and in 2019 the servicing switched to Green Sun. One of our service plans supports it: a full service every year, covering spark plug and air filter, oil and filter, battery inspection, load testing and a performance check, plus remote monitoring that Green Sun manages directly, so a fault reaches us rather than waiting to be noticed at the house. The most recent service was completed in March of

20 kW Standby Generator Service in Freehold, NJ | Serviced 2019 to 2022

Paul from Freehold, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2019. The 20 kW Generac standby was installed by another company in February of 2013, and in 2019 the servicing switched to Green Sun. We carried out the six-year, seven-year, eight-year and nine-year services between 2019 and 2022: spark plug and air filter, oil and filter, battery inspection, load testing and a full performance check each time. The meter read 95 hours at the first visit and 196 at the last, so the machine had run about a hundred hours covering the house in between.

Philip from Holmdel, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2020. The 20 kW standby generator at the house was installed by another company in February of 2013, and Philip brought its servicing to us seven years later. Every interval from the six-year through to the ten-year was carried out, the last completed in July of 2023 with the fuel plenum inspected and clear of rust, along with a service call in between. The meter read 27.4 hours at that visit — a little over a day of running in a decade. A generator that

Standby Generator Service in Marlboro, NJ | 8 kW, 203 Hours on the Meter

Sankumani from Marlboro, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since June of 2019. The 8 kW standby generator at the house was installed by another company in November of 2011, and Sankumani brought it to us nearly eight years later. We began with a startup inspection, which is standard on any machine we did not install ourselves and which mattered here: the meter already read 203.2 hours. That is a great deal of work for the smallest generator in the range, and it explains the visits that followed — including one in November of 2019 where the

Standby Generator Installation in Holmdel, NJ | 16 kW on a Well

Vincent from Holmdel, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since June of 2019. We installed a 16 kW Generac standby generator that September, sited outdoors beside the meter on a managed whole-house transfer switch. The load survey is what set the size: 3,000 square feet, two refrigerators, a washer and gas dryer, a dishwasher, a sump pump — and a well pump, which is the one that decides everything. A house on a well has no water at all when the power goes, not merely no light, so the generator has to carry the pump before anything

Ataur from Colts Neck, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since June of 2019. The scheduled maintenance has been kept up ever since, through to the visit completed in December of 2025, and the generator remains under one of our annual service plans. The hour meter tells the quieter story: 22.5 hours in twelve years. That is a machine
