Solar Critter Guard

Squirrels and birds get into the gap between the panels and the roof, and most people find out the hard way: chewed wiring, staining down the shingles, or a system that has quietly stopped producing. Critter guard closes that gap with a mesh barrier clipped around the array. These are New Jersey homes where we fitted it, some on the day the panels went up and others years later, after something had already moved in.

120 completed critter guard projects across 78 New Jersey towns, including 21 with a review written by the customer.

Solar Panel Installation in Princeton, NJ | 38 Jinko Panels, 16.34 kW and 324 Feet of Critter Guard

Cliff and Louise from Princeton, NJ have been Green Sun Energy Services clients since September of 2025. Thirty-eight Jinko panels went up on Unirac mounting at the end of that December, 16.34 kW in total, with a first-year production estimate of 12,069 kWh. Three hundred and twenty-four feet of critter guard was fitted around the array at the same time. Squirrels and nesting birds get under an unguarded array, chew wiring and pack debris against the roof, and the guard goes on with the panels in a single visit rather than needing the panels lifted again later. Six older 230-watt

19-panel 6.37 kW solar array in East Windsor, NJ

6.37 kW Solar & 18 kW Generac for Heli in East Windsor, NJ

Estimated first-year production is 8,861 kWh and the utility is JCP&L. It was commissioned on 21 November 2019. A hundred

41-panel 14.97 kW solar array in Westfield, NJ

Solar Panel Installation and Roofing Installation in Westfield, NJ | A Partial Reroof and 41 Panels

Paul Nicholson has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since October of 2022, when he booked a roof and a solar array together. The roof was finished on 8 February 2023 and the array a week later. The part of the roof that needed it: Only part of this roof was replaced, and that was deliberate. A newer dimensional roof on one section of the house was sound and was left exactly where it was. The older 2,900 square feet came off instead, a single layer stripped down to the sheathing, cleaned up and carted away with the dumpster

Solar Panel Installation in Red Bank, NJ | 34 Panels and 216 Feet of Critter Guard

David from Red Bank, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since March of 2025. The array was completed in May: 34 panels making 15.64 kW, each with its own Enphase IQ8 microinverter, 216 feet of critter guard around the perimeter, and an estimated 19,270 kilowatt hours in the first year. JCP&L interconnected it in June. At over fifteen kilowatts this is among the largest residential arrays on the site, and 216 feet of guard is what a roof line of that size costs – the gap between panels and roof is where squirrels and birds nest, and

Solar Critter Guard in Brick, New Jersey

Solar Panel Installation in Brick, NJ | 13 High-Output Panels

Mike from Brick, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since March of 2025. Thirteen panels producing nearly six kilowatts works out to well over 450 watts each, which is roughly double what a panel of the same physical size produced a decade ago. That is why a modest roof now supports a system that would have needed half as many panels again in 2015

The existing roof was sound enough to build
