Solar Panel Installation

No two roofs are the same. The pitch, the shade from the tree next door, the direction the house faces and what the family actually uses through the year all change what belongs up there. These are solar arrays we designed and installed across New Jersey, and each one names the panels, the inverter and the size of the system along with the town it is in. Real jobs on real houses, photographed where we had the chance.

320 completed solar projects across 140 New Jersey towns, including 73 with a review written by the customer.

Solar Panel Installation and Roofing Installation in Westfield, NJ | 32 Panels on a Northwest Roof

Brian Lu has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since October of 2019, when the roof and the solar array were bought on the same day. The roof was finished on 22 December 2019 and the array eight days later. Two layers off, 2,700 square feet on: This roof had been covered over once already, so two layers of old shingle came off rather than one: twice the tear-off, twice the disposal, and the only way anybody sees the deck a solar array is about to be fastened to. GAF deck protection went over the exposed sheathing with ice […]

Standby Generator and Solar Installation in Tinton Falls, NJ | 29.48 kW Solar & 26 kW Generac

David in Tinton Falls has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2025. The standby generator was commissioned in November and the solar array in December. Both systems are unusually large, and the reason is the same in each case. A 26 kW machine and six modules: The electrical calculation for this 4,000 square foot house comes to 47,018 watts. That is roughly double a typical house of the same floor area, and the reason is what is in it rather than how big it is: an electric vehicle charger, a heat pump, and 14,500 watts of

Solar Panel Installation in Lawrence Township, NJ | 17 Panels and 7.31 kW

Chai Zhu from Lawrence Township, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2025. The array was completed on 12 November: 17 panels making 7.31 kW, each with its own Enphase IQ8PLUS microinverter, and an estimated 7,960 kilowatt hours in the first year. PSEG interconnected it three weeks later. Seventeen panels producing over seven kilowatts works out to 430 watts each, and a structural design was carried out as part of the permit process – the roof was shown to carry the array rather than assumed to. The existing roof was sound enough to take the

Solar Panel Installation in Port Monmouth, NJ | 31 Panels and 11.32 kW

Teng Ming from Port Monmouth, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2022. The array was completed on 15 November: 31 panels making 11.32 kW into a SolarEdge HD Wave inverter with optimizers, and an estimated 12,027 kilowatt hours in the first year. JCP&L interconnected it three weeks later. Port Monmouth sits on Raritan Bay, low and exposed, and a structural design was carried out as part of the permit process – a roof taking an array of this size in a coastal wind zone has to be shown to carry the load, not assumed

Solar Panel Installation in Parsippany, NJ | 24 Panels and 10.32 kW

Andrea from Parsippany, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2025. The array was completed on 9 October: 24 panels making 10.32 kW, each with its own Enphase IQ8PLUS microinverter, and an estimated 9,398 kilowatt hours in the first year. JCP&L interconnected it in December. Twenty-four panels producing over ten kilowatts works out to 430 watts each – the same panel count as a 2011 array on this site that made barely half as much, which is the clearest measure of how far the technology has moved. The existing roof was sound enough to take

Solar Panel Installation in Andover Borough, NJ | 16 Panels

Kevin from Andover Borough, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since April of 2021. The array was completed on 30 June: 16 panels making 5.44 kW into a SolarEdge inverter with optimizers, and an estimated 6,175 kilowatt hours in the first year. JCP&L interconnected it in July. Andover Borough is one of the smallest municipalities in the state and among the furthest north-west we work – a long way from the shore towns that make up most of this list, and a reminder that the sun does not stop at the county line. The existing roof was

Solar Panel Installation and Roofing Installation in Morganville, NJ | 24 Panels

Patrick Lee has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since December of 2019, when the roof and the solar array were bought on the same day. The roof was finished on 24 January 2020 and the array a fortnight later. 3,300 square feet, stripped to the deck: A single layer of old shingles came off down to the sheathing and left with the dumpster. GAF deck protection went over the exposed sheathing and ice shield up from the gutter edges, then a GAF Timberline HDZ system carrying a 50-year warranty, aluminum drip edge along 350 feet of rakes, eaves

Solar Panel Installation in River Vale, NJ | 47 Panels and 352 Feet of Critter Guard

Linda from River Vale, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since April of 2022. The array was completed in August: 47 panels making 16.92 kW into a SolarEdge HD Wave inverter with optimizers, 352 feet of critter guard around the perimeter, and an estimated 17,015 kilowatt hours in the first year. PSEG interconnected it in November. This is the largest residential array on the site by system size, and 352 feet is the longest run of critter guard on any of them – a roof line that takes 47 panels has a great deal of edge, and

Solar Panel Installation in North Middletown, NJ | A Second Phase of Solar

James from North Middletown, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since April of 2019, and this was the second phase of solar on the property. The array was completed on 10 May: 33 panels making 11.06 kW into a SolarEdge inverter with optimizers, and an estimated 10,420 kilowatt hours in the first year. JCP&L interconnected it in June. Coming back to add a second array is the clearest evidence a first one did what it promised – nobody expands a system that disappointed them – and a household that has lived with solar for a while knows

Solar Panel Installation and Roofing Installation in North Haledon, NJ | A 4,900 Square Foot Roof and 32 Panels

Wayne Kuiken has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2022, when the roof and the solar array were bought on the same day. The roof was signed on 27 July and finished on 4 August; the array followed in late October. 4,900 square feet, and 481 feet of edge: This is a large roof by any measure, and the tear-off was a single layer down to the sheathing, cleaned up and carted away with the dumpster included. GAF deck protection went over the exposed sheathing, then a GAF Timberline HDZ system in Pewter gray with a

Solar Panel Installation in West Windsor, NJ | 32 Panels and 212 Feet of Critter Guard

Rakesh from West Windsor, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since March of 2022. The array was completed in June: 32 panels making 11.52 kW into a SolarEdge HD Wave inverter with optimizers, 212 feet of critter guard around the perimeter, and an estimated 13,938 kilowatt hours in the first year. PSEG interconnected it in December, six months after the panels went up – a gap that is entirely the utility’s timetable rather than anybody else’s, and one worth knowing about before it happens. The existing roof was sound enough to take the array as it stood.

Solar Panel Installation in Morganville, NJ | 24 Panels and 10.56 kW

Vijayakumar from Morganville, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2025. The array was completed in November: 24 panels making 10.56 kW, each with its own Enphase IQ8 microinverter, 188 feet of critter guard around the perimeter, and an estimated 12,231 kilowatt hours in the first year. JCP&L interconnected it at the end of December. Twenty-four panels producing over ten kilowatts works out to 440 watts each – a modern panel does roughly what two of them managed a decade ago, which is why a system this size fits comfortably on an ordinary suburban roof.
