Solar Panel Installation

No two roofs are the same. The pitch, the shade from the tree next door, the direction the house faces and what the family actually uses through the year all change what belongs up there. These are solar arrays we designed and installed across New Jersey, and each one names the panels, the inverter and the size of the system along with the town it is in. Real jobs on real houses, photographed where we had the chance.

320 completed solar projects across 140 New Jersey towns, including 73 with a review written by the customer.

Solar Panel Installation in North Plainfield, NJ | 12 Panels on a Shaded Roof

Elizabeth from North Plainfield, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2025. The array was completed on 31 October: 12 panels making 5.22 kW with Enphase IQ8 microinverters, 90 feet of critter guard, and an estimated 4,178 kilowatt hours in the first year. That production figure is the interesting one – 4,178 kilowatt hours from 5.22 kW is well below what the same array would make on an unobstructed roof, and the estimate says so honestly rather than quoting the number the panels could produce in ideal conditions. A shaded roof is where microinverters earn […]

Solar Panel Installation in Passaic, NJ | 24 Panels and 9.72 kW

Abraham from Passaic, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2022. The array was completed in November: 24 panels making 9.72 kW into a SolarEdge HD Wave inverter with optimizers, 140 feet of critter guard around the perimeter, and an estimated 10,116 kilowatt hours in the first year. PSEG interconnected it in January. Passaic is one of the most densely built cities in the state, and a roof there is usually shaded by something – the survey work is less about finding a south-facing slope than about establishing which parts of the roof are clear

Solar Panel Installation in Oakhurst, NJ | 34 Panels and 14.62 kW

David from Oakhurst, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2025. The array was completed in October: 34 panels making 14.62 kW, each with its own Enphase IQ8 microinverter, and an estimated 15,337 kilowatt hours in the first year. JCP&L interconnected it in November. Thirty-four panels producing over fourteen kilowatts works out to 430 watts each, and fifteen thousand kilowatt hours a year is well beyond what a typical household uses – the sort of system that suits a house already running electric heating or charging a car, or one expecting to. The existing roof

Standby Generator and Solar Installation in Little Egg Harbor, NJ | Five Feet Off the Ground

Jonathan came to Green Sun Energy Services in October of 2019, as the owner of this Little Egg Harbor property. He signed for the solar array and the standby generator on the same day, and both were commissioned on the same day, 27 November 2019. He has since moved on from the house; the two systems are still there. Five feet off the ground: Most standby generators in this set sit on a composite pad at ground level. This one does not. It stands on a platform five feet high, built to the Uniform Construction Code before we arrived, and

Solar Panel Installation and Roofing Installation in Paramus, NJ | A Chimney Down, a New Roof and 16 Panels

Sun Kim has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2022, when the roof and the solar array were bought on the same day. The roof was finished on 6 October 2022 and the array six days later. A brick chimney taken down with the roof: The contract for this job carries an instruction most roofs do not: the roofer was to decommission the brick chimney. A chimney no longer in use is still a hole through the roof and a flashing detail that has to be maintained for as long as it stands, and it is

Solar Panel Installation in Howell, NJ | 42 Panels and 15.33 kW

Ian from Howell, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since April of 2021. The array was completed in July: 42 panels making 15.33 kW into a SolarEdge inverter with optimizers, and an estimated 19,591 kilowatt hours in the first year. JCP&L interconnected it in August. At over fifteen kilowatts this is among the largest residential arrays on the site, and nearly twenty thousand kilowatt hours a year is more than most households use – the sort of system that suits a house already running electric heating or charging a car, or expecting to. The existing roof was

Solar Panel Installation and Roofing Installation in Millstone Township, NJ | 5,500 Square Feet of Roof and 36 Panels

Kimberly from Millstone Township, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2021, and booked the roof and the array on the same day. That order was the whole point: two contracts signed together and scheduled a week apart, so the panels went onto a brand new roofing system rather than an old one. 5,500 square feet of new roof: The old roof was a single layer of shingles, which is the straightforward case – it was stripped to the sheathing and carted away rather than roofed over, so the decking could be looked at before

Solar Panel Installation in Scotch Plains, NJ | 21 Panels and 160 Feet of Critter Guard

Douglas from Scotch Plains, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2025. The array was completed in November: 21 panels making 9.24 kW, each with its own Enphase IQ8 microinverter, 160 feet of critter guard around the perimeter, and an estimated 10,838 kilowatt hours in the first year. PSEG interconnected it in January. Twenty-one panels producing over nine kilowatts works out to 440 watts each – a modern panel does roughly what two of them did a decade ago, which is why a system this size now fits on an ordinary suburban roof. The existing

Solar Panel Installation in Plainsboro, NJ | 43 Panels Producing Since 2016

Richard from Plainsboro, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since October of 2015. The array was completed in January of 2016: 43 panels making 11.18 kW, each with its own Enphase microinverter, and an estimated 14,130 kilowatt hours in the first year. PSEG interconnected it in March. Forty-three panels for eleven kilowatts tells you exactly when this was built – a panel of that era produced around 260 watts where the same physical size now produces over 450, which is why a system of this output needed most of a roof in 2016 and needs half of

Solar Panel Installation in Bridgewater, NJ | Adding 12 More Panels Two Years On

Stefan from Bridgewater, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2025 for this second phase, having had the first array installed two years earlier. Twelve more panels making 5.28 kW went on in November, with Enphase IQ8 microinverters and 148 feet of critter guard, adding an estimated 3,927 kilowatt hours a year to what the house already produced. JCP&L interconnected the addition in February. Coming back to expand an array is the clearest evidence a system has done what it promised – nobody adds to something that disappointed them – and the microinverter design is

Solar Panel Installation and EV Charger Installation in Bridgewater, NJ | A Charger and 23 Panels

Stefan from Bridgewater, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since May of 2023, and had the charger and the array installed a month apart – the charger first, which is the order that makes the arithmetic work. A ChargePoint, and a long wire run: 29 August 2023. The household bought the charger and we installed it in the garage on a dedicated 60-amp circuit at 11.5 kW, adding roughly 36 miles of range an hour. The work here was the wiring rather than the box. The run from the panel out to the garage measured well beyond

Solar Panel Installation in Toms River, NJ | 39 Panels and 13.65 kW

Greg from Toms River, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2019. The array was completed in November: 39 panels making 13.65 kW into a SolarEdge HD Wave inverter with optimizers, 226 feet of critter guard around the perimeter, and an estimated 15,221 kilowatt hours in the first year. JCP&L interconnected it in December. Seven years on, the critter guard is the part worth mentioning: the gap between panels and roof is where squirrels and birds nest, and the wiring damage they do is invisible from the ground until production quietly drops. The existing roof
