Standby Generator Installation

Mathew from Millstone Township, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since November of 2023. The machine is a Generac 7290 rated 26 kW on propane and 22.5 kW on natural gas, running on natural gas, on a 300-amp transfer switch, and it was commissioned in December of 2023. At about 6,000 square feet the house needs the top of the air-cooled range and a switch rated for the whole service – a 300-amp switch is not a larger version of a 200-amp one, it is a different class of gear. Maryann and Robert from Hazlet, NJ have been Green Sun Energy Services clients since October of 2013. A Generac rated 8 kW on propane and 7 kW on natural gas went in that January, running on natural gas behind a 50-amp transfer switch. That is an essential-circuits installation rather than whole-house backup – heat, refrigeration, a few lights and the circuits that matter in a storm – and it went in during a hard winter, which is a difficult time to be working on the outside of a house.

Alex from Farmingdale, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since October of 2014. A Generac rated 16 kW went in that January, running on natural gas behind a 200-amp automatic transfer switch, with 1,980 square feet of living space behind it on the load survey. The switch takes the whole service rather than a selected group of circuits, so nothing about the house has to be ranked or set aside when the power goes.

Carol from Jackson, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2020. A Generac Guardian rated 16 kW went in the following March, running on natural gas behind a 200-amp automatic transfer switch. The load survey put 2,550 square feet of living space behind it. The switch is sized to the whole service rather than to a chosen group of circuits, which means nothing had to be decided in advance about which rooms matter during a storm.

Jeannie from Morganville, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since October of 2025. The generator was commissioned in January of 2026, rated 17 kW on natural gas where the load calculation asked for 15 kW. The house has a 100-amp service, the smaller end of what a whole-house transfer switch usually sits on, so a load-management module went in alongside it: the electric range and the other large loads are held apart rather than allowed to arrive together. Our top-tier plan supports the machine, with an annual visit, an extended parts-and-labor warranty and monitoring we manage directly.

Lisa from Howell, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2019. The servicing of a standby generator another company had installed came to us that month, and in March of 2024 the machine itself was replaced with a Generac model 7290, rated 22.5 kW on natural gas against a load calculation asking for 22 kW. Most of the 5,200 square feet runs on gas – two furnaces, the cooktop, the water heater and the dryer – so it is the double electric oven that accounts for much of what the generator has to carry.

Mike from Middletown, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since January of 2021. The generator was commissioned that August: 14 kW on natural gas, on a 200-amp service-entrance switch with a smart management module, sized against a 15 kW calculation for the 2,442 square foot house. Two heat pumps are what put the calculated figure above the machine, and the management module is what reconciles the two – each compressor draws several times its running load in the instant it starts, and the module makes sure they never do it together. Bollards were agreed in advance as
