Squirrels and birds get into the gap between the panels and the roof, and most people find out the hard way: chewed wiring, staining down the shingles, or a system that has quietly stopped producing. Critter guard closes that gap with a mesh barrier clipped around the array. These are New Jersey homes where we fitted it, some on the day the panels went up and others years later, after something had already moved in.

120 completed critter guard projects across 78 New Jersey towns, including 21 with a review written by the customer.

Standby Generator Service, Solar and Roofing in Lincroft, NJ | Taken On at Year Eight, a New Roof and 32 Panels

Daniel from Lincroft, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since December of 2020, and the house has taken three trades since. The generator came to us at second hand: another company installed it in November of 2012, and we picked up its servicing eight years later. An 8 kW Generac taken on at year eight: An 8 kW Generac running on natural gas, behind a 35-amp indoor transfer switch in the basement on a 200-amp service. Taking a machine on at eight years is a different proposition from commissioning one. The installer is long out of the

Solar Panel Installation in Roselle Park, NJ | 18 Panels and 176 Feet of Critter Guard

James from Roselle Park, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since November of 2024. The array was completed on 13 January: 18 panels making 8.28 kW into a SolarEdge Energy Hub inverter – the battery-ready model – with 176 feet of critter guard around the perimeter and an estimated 8,283 kilowatt hours in the first year. A structural design was carried out as part of the permit process, so the roof was shown to carry the array rather than assumed to. PSEG interconnected it in April, three months after the panels went up – a gap that

Solar Panel Installation and Roofing Installation in Manalapan, NJ | 22 Panels and Critter Guard

Wai Moy has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2024, when the roof and the solar array were bought on the same day. The roof was finished on 15 October 2024 and the array nine days after it. 4,700 square feet, stripped to the deck: A single layer of old shingles came off down to the sheathing and left with the dumpster. What went back on is a GAF Timberline HDZ system in Pewter Gray carrying a 50-year warranty, over deck protection across the whole exposed sheathing, with aluminum drip edge along 442 feet of rakes,

Solar Panel Installation and Roofing Installation in Hazlet, NJ | 7.3 kW Over One Winter

Robert Miller has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since October of 2017, when the roof and the solar array were bought on the same day. The roof was finished that December and the array the following February. 2,400 square feet, with ice shield at the eaves: A single layer of old shingles came off to the sheathing and left with the dumpster. GAF deck protection went over the exposed sheathing and ice shield up from the gutter edges, then a GAF Timberline HDZ system with a 50-year warranty, aluminum drip edge along 233 feet of rakes and eaves,

Standby Generator, Solar and EV Charger Installation in Forked River, NJ | A Charger and 29 Panels

Robert from Forked River, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since June of 2024, and in the sixteen months that followed the house took three trades in a deliberate order. A 19.5 kW Generac on a managed whole-house switch: Commissioned in October of 2024: a Generac Guardian rated 19.5 kW on natural gas – 22 kW were it running on propane – behind a 200-amp managed whole-house transfer switch with two smart management modules and whole-house surge protection. The house is 2,700 square feet with two refrigerators, a dishwasher, a washer and a gas dryer. Two management

Solar, Roofing and EV Charger Installation in Kenilworth, NJ | 22 Panels and a Matching Charger

Daniel from Kenilworth, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2022, and came back for a car charger two years later. The roof and the array went in four days apart. The charger, when it came, was chosen to match what was already on the wall. 3,800 square feet of new roof: Finished on 12 September 2022: a single layer stripped to the sheathing and carted away rather than covered over, then 3,800 square feet of composition shingle in pewter gray, warranted fifty years, with continuous soffit vents at the intake. 22 panels and 8.91

Standby Generator and Solar Installation in Tinton Falls, NJ | 29.48 kW Solar & 26 kW Generac

David in Tinton Falls has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2025. The standby generator was commissioned in November and the solar array in December. Both systems are unusually large, and the reason is the same in each case. A 26 kW machine and six modules: The electrical calculation for this 4,000 square foot house comes to 47,018 watts. That is roughly double a typical house of the same floor area, and the reason is what is in it rather than how big it is: an electric vehicle charger, a heat pump, and 14,500 watts of

Solar Panel Installation in River Vale, NJ | 47 Panels and 352 Feet of Critter Guard

Linda from River Vale, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since April of 2022. The array was completed in August: 47 panels making 16.92 kW into a SolarEdge HD Wave inverter with optimizers, 352 feet of critter guard around the perimeter, and an estimated 17,015 kilowatt hours in the first year. PSEG interconnected it in November. This is the largest residential array on the site by system size, and 352 feet is the longest run of critter guard on any of them – a roof line that takes 47 panels has a great deal of edge, and

Solar Panel Installation in West Windsor, NJ | 32 Panels and 212 Feet of Critter Guard

Rakesh from West Windsor, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since March of 2022. The array was completed in June: 32 panels making 11.52 kW into a SolarEdge HD Wave inverter with optimizers, 212 feet of critter guard around the perimeter, and an estimated 13,938 kilowatt hours in the first year. PSEG interconnected it in December, six months after the panels went up – a gap that is entirely the utility’s timetable rather than anybody else’s, and one worth knowing about before it happens. The existing roof was sound enough to take the array as it stood.

Solar Panel Installation in Morganville, NJ | 24 Panels and 10.56 kW

Vijayakumar from Morganville, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2025. The array was completed in November: 24 panels making 10.56 kW, each with its own Enphase IQ8 microinverter, 188 feet of critter guard around the perimeter, and an estimated 12,231 kilowatt hours in the first year. JCP&L interconnected it at the end of December. Twenty-four panels producing over ten kilowatts works out to 440 watts each – a modern panel does roughly what two of them managed a decade ago, which is why a system this size fits comfortably on an ordinary suburban roof.

Solar Panel Installation in North Plainfield, NJ | 12 Panels on a Shaded Roof

Elizabeth from North Plainfield, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2025. The array was completed on 31 October: 12 panels making 5.22 kW with Enphase IQ8 microinverters, 90 feet of critter guard, and an estimated 4,178 kilowatt hours in the first year. That production figure is the interesting one – 4,178 kilowatt hours from 5.22 kW is well below what the same array would make on an unobstructed roof, and the estimate says so honestly rather than quoting the number the panels could produce in ideal conditions. A shaded roof is where microinverters earn

Solar Panel Installation in Passaic, NJ | 24 Panels and 9.72 kW

Abraham from Passaic, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2022. The array was completed in November: 24 panels making 9.72 kW into a SolarEdge HD Wave inverter with optimizers, 140 feet of critter guard around the perimeter, and an estimated 10,116 kilowatt hours in the first year. PSEG interconnected it in January. Passaic is one of the most densely built cities in the state, and a roof there is usually shaded by something – the survey work is less about finding a south-facing slope than about establishing which parts of the roof are clear
